When I was a kid we had ‘the making box’ – full of yogurt pots,egg boxes, lolly sticks and PVA – to keep me and my brothers amused and give my long-suffering mother five minutes peace.

Having swapped pipe cleaners and glitter for a sewing machine and stitch rippers, my making now takes over a corner of my south London flat.
